I had to decide what to do for my artists solve problems art piece and I had a bunch of q-tips lying around so I decided I would use those. At first I had thought I could buy a Styrofoam sphere and fill that with q-tips and paint them to look like the Earth but then I decided to make a pizza using this Styrofoam circle. After filling up the whole circle with the q-tips it looked more like a cake rather than a pizza, so there was a change of plans and that is what I did. I chose a material limitation for this because most of the things I do are pencil drawings so I had decided to switch things up a little. The main obstacle was having the patience to put in all of those q-tips. It took over an hour and my hands were definitely hurting a little bit when it was complete. I did have a source of inspiration and then combined it with my own unique idea at a later point. I was unsure as to what I was going to do at first so I was browsing the internet looking for some inspiration and someone had stuck a bunch of q-tips into a Styrofoam ball and put a blue light in the middle of it which looked really cool and gave me the Earth idea. The q-tips on the cake are meant to look like icing and I painted the Styrofoam disc brown to make it look like a chocolate cake. I also had to make sure when I lit the candles that the q-tips would not catch fire and burn down the house.
